ZenithFlow Awarded Navy SBIR Contract to Develop AI-Powered Maintenance System

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - May 12, 2025

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – ZenithFlow Inc. has been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract by the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) to develop NavForge, an AI-powered maintenance optimization and knowledge retrieval system designed to enhance naval maintenance operations.

Under the base contract, ZenithFlow will conduct initial research and development (R&D) of NavForge, with a potential option for continued R&D. The project aims to help the Navy improve shipyard and maintenance operations by applying artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to maintenance workflows.

"This SBIR award provides an opportunity to adapt our proven OmniCore platform specifically for naval maintenance applications," said Dr. Carrick Longley, Principal Investigator and founder of ZenithFlow. "NavForge will help maintenance personnel access critical information and generate adaptive work instructions, potentially reducing the time Navy assets spend out of operational service."

NavForge builds upon ZenithFlow's OmniCore process automation platform and its successful deployment for similar human augmentation applications with Special Operations Command and U.S. Southern Command. Key innovations include:

  • Offline-first architecture that operates without internet connectivity
  • Advanced natural language processing tailored for naval maintenance documentation
  • Multi-agent query systems for reliable information retrieval
  • AI-generated adaptive work instructions specific to ship class and equipment

During the Phase I effort, ZenithFlow will work closely with naval maintenance personnel to gather requirements, design the system architecture, adapt AI models for naval terminology, and prototype the multi-agent query system.

The project aligns with NAVSEA's focus areas of "Shipyard and Maintenance Operational Logistics Improvements" and "AI/ML Generated Work Instructions" as specified in SBIR Topic N244-P02. If successful, the technology could significantly enhance fleet readiness by optimizing maintenance processes and reducing asset downtime.
